The Annual Talbot Veterinary Informatics Symposium
Named for professor, dean, and informatics pioneer Dr. Richard Talbot, DVM, PhD., the Talbot Veterinary Informatics Symposium began in 1995 at the annual AVMA Convention. In 2016, the Talbot Symposium moved to its new home at Fetch Central (then the CVC) in Kansas City, held annually in August. Members had the chance to interact with other Fetch attendees at our AVI booth and engage in active discussions with fellow members at the symposium and over BBQ.
In 2020, the Talbot Symposium was held virtually for the first time, as a standalone technical conference. We welcomed speakers and attendees from all over the globe for live sessions, the presentation of our second lifetime achievement award, and a fun networking get together.
We are pleased to announce that beginning in 2021, AVI is sponsoring several lectures at NAVC's virtual VMX conference ("Talbot Talks") in addition to hosting another August live virtual Talbot Informatics Symposium.
We are also excited to announce that in late 2021, AVI will bring Talbot Informatics Symposium lectures to an on-demand format.

The Call for Speakers for 2021 is currently closed, but you can see prior information below. Check back in late 2021 for information regarding our 2022 schedule!
Veterinary clinical informatics is a rapidly evolving science that blends information technology, communications, social and behavioral science, and veterinary medicine to improve the quality and safety of patient care.
We invite speakers interested in sharing their knowledge with a diverse audience to apply to lecture or participate in a panel discussion at the Annual Talbot Informatics Symposium. Some speakers may be asked to give their talk at additional conferences following the original presentation(s) or to record it for our on-demand lecture portal.
If you or your organization is interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact an Executive Board member for more information. Your support will not only help to advance animal health care, but allow veterinarians to lead our profession from within to shape our own future. We look forward to hearing from you!
AVI's new on demand education portal is live! Click here to opt-in. Registration is free for members!
